Dublin Bus introduced new route 47 from Belarmine to Donnybrook Church on Monday 8th September 2008.
Route 47 operates from Belarmine Estate in Dublin 18, via Stepaside Village, Sandyford Industrial Estate & LUAS light rail station, Kilmacud, Stillorgan Shopping Centre, the Stillorgan dual carriageway, passing RTE in Donnybrook, Belfield slip road & terminating at Donnybrook Church.
Route 47 operates 7 days a week, with buses up to every 15 minutes during peak times & every 30 minutes off peak.
Belarmine in Dublin 18 consists of 60 acres and comprises 1,100 residential units off the Enniskerry Road close to Stepaside Village on the foothills of the Dublin mountains. Until now, the bus service was a variety of different routes operating different ways to the city, at skewed times & confusing to passengers.
Route 47 is operated from Donnybrook Garage, where the route terminates at.
Unlike traditional routes, route 47 does not operate to the City Centre. Instead it offers links to the Stillorgan quality bus corridor ( QBC ) which has very frequent route connections, such as the 10, 46A & 145 into St Stephens Green & O'Connell Street.

Route 47 is operated using 11 duties from Donnybrook comprised of 3 extra works & 4 to 11 are universals.
Trip time is 45 minutes in each direction, requiring 5 buses maximum at peak times.
Buses terminate inbound at the bus shelter alongside Donnybrook Garage & loop into garage to face southbound, first stop outbound outside Donnybrook Church on the Stillorgan Road.
Route 47 is classified low floor & mainly uses AV & AX type ALX400's from both Donnybrook 1 & 2 garages.
Route 47 replaces all selected 46B & 118 which operated to Belarmine.
A single route 117 morning service at 07.35, returning from D'Olier Street at 17.20 hour continues to operate offering a direct link to the City Centre.
Route 47 is on a 3 month trial period.

Dublin Bus is pleased to announce the launch of a new Route 47 from Belarmine to Donnybrook from Monday 8th September 2008.
Route 47 operates from Belarmine via Stepaside, Murphystown Road, Sandyford Industrial Estate, Stillorgan to Donnybrook, providing a link with the Luas and the Stillorgan QBC.
The route will serve residents in Belarmine, Aikens Village, Stepaside, Wingfield, Ballyogan Road, Sandyford Hall, Fernleigh, The Gallops, Leopardstown Heights and Sandyford Industrial Estate. "
