Rail replacement services continue on the Northside of Dublin into 2005 as upgrade work continues on the Northside line.
Duties previously performed on the Irish Rail private hire route 32C from Portmarnock Station to Tara Street Station by Broadstone using Volvo AV class have now passed to Harristown Garage.
Photo feature below from 2004.....
Broadstone Volvo AV 215 pictured on Sir John Rogersons Quay close to the terminus at Tara Street Station. This service operating to the various rail departures/ arrivals is exclusively for Irish Rail passengers only & operated non stop between the stations although inbound services set down at Connolly Station.
AV 215 seen later in the day having just left Portmarnock Rail Station. The Station grounds offer easy access & plenty of parking for the buses & with only departing/ arriving trains, there is little confusion for passengers. There is also plenty of timetable information at the station.
Finally, AV 216 seen again, also at the same roundabout at Portmarnock heading towards the city. The route is operated by low floor AV class Volvo B7TL's from Dublin Bus, although occasionally RV Olympians sneak onto the route.
The dot matrix displays either show " Private Hire " or " Out of Service " although lately " Route 32C Portmarnock Station " has been added & each bus carries a running board for the 32C.
The service operates every Saturday & Sunday most of the day. The buses are part of a pool, so when not operating the 32C, will also operate the various other Clontarf routes like the 27,29A, 31, 31B, 32, 32A/B, 42 & 42B as extra's to cover for the increased demand generated by the lack of DART rail services.
