Dennis Plaxton Pointer

Waterford City Services
Bus Eireann purchased 11 new Dennis Mini Pointers in 2002 to replace the aging KC class on the Waterford City Services & classified DPC 101-111.
The Cummins engined Mini Pointer is only 8.8 meters long , making it ideal for Waterford's narrow streets while offering the full benefits of low floor technology with wheelchair & easy access.
The DPC class are fitted with dot matrix displays & individual bucket seating.
Here is a feature on the DPC class in Waterford July 2005
DPC 101 is seen parked at The Glen in Waterford City about to work a short to St John's Park & Avondale. City services are departing from The Mall due to The Tall Ships race being staged in the city & major traffic restrictions around the quays.
DPC 103 loads up on route 3 to John's Road ( Bothar de Brun in Irish ) outside Geoffs Bar in Apple Market in the heart of Waterford City.
DPC 105 heads off from the Mall looking in superb condition.
The Mini Pointer Dart ( MPD ) is built on a Dennis chassis, with Plaxton bodywork ( built by Alexander ) . The Pointer body was launched in 1989 & has seen the many transformations of its owners from The Mayflower Group, Plaxton, Transbus & now Alexander Dennis. The bus has proved itself to be efficient & very popular with many operators, thanks to the various lengths making the Pointer the most successful midibus ever.
Finally, DPC 110 is seen heading down Parnell Street on high frequency route 610 which operates to the popular Waterford Institute of Technology campus via the Ballybeg housing estate. Route 610 operates every 12 minutes & every 30 minutes evenings, Monday to Saturday.
Rear view of DPC 109 having just left the popular stop on High Street having operated in from W.I.T.
The DPC class has a carrying capacity of 29 seated, 17 standing & 1 wheelchair.
