ROUTE DISPLAYS :
( try them !!!!! )
Double decker's return to Dalkey for Summer 2005 as rail replacement continues on the Southside. Donnybrook based RV 577 is seen at the former route 8 terminus in Dalkey Village on the first day of service. While route 59 continues to operate from Dun Laoghaire via Dalkey, its always single deck operated using the WV class, so decker's are a rarity now, apart from the daily South Coast Tour.
RV 577 was recently resprayed to the new Dublin Bus core colours & previously was fitted with an experimental orange LED. RV 577 is usually seen operating on route 7 to Cherrywood/ Loughlinstown.
Donnybrook Volvo Olympian RA 254 heads down Burgh Quay to take up duty on the 11.00 hours Burgh Quay to Dalkey service. The 11.00 & 13.00 hrs services from Burgh Quay only serves Sandycove enroute, although this is open to interpretation of the drivers.
RA & RH Olympian class rarely see service at weekends at Donnybrook, but since the extra services along the affected areas, many elderly vehicles can be seen operating on any route, including the 46A.
Finally, just pulled away from the temporary stop on Burgh Quay ( 172 stop also ), Donnybrook RV 554 with the display showing " Dun Laoghaire, Dalkey ". This display was used when Dublin Bus operated a rail replacement service during the pervious Southside works before they move Northside.
The Dalkey Shuttle, which operates an hourly service on Saturday & Sundays between June & September 2005 is operated now by both Olympians & ALX400 low floors.
