DOCKLANDS
STATION
Announcing Docklands, the first City Centre railway station constructed in Dublin since Tara Street in 1890 nears completion in March 2007. The new Irish Rail station will cater for increased services on the Maynooth- Dublin commuter line, with 2,500 passengers expected to use the new facility, increasing to 10,000 when fully operational, with departures to Maynooth every 15 minutes. In the distance, Croke Park can be seen to the left of the station roof, an Commuter train on the main Dublin to Belfast line & to the right some of the high density apartments in the docklands area as the area rejuvenates, on the doorstep to the Capital.
While proposed links to the new Docklands Station include a link to the underground interconnector & LUAS red line extension from Connolly Station, a transport link was now required for trains passengers to the City Centre, with the station expected to open in a few days.
On Sunday 4th March 2007, Dublin Bus introduced new route 151 to Docklands Railway Station.
