Dublin Bus Route 18

Palmerstown to

Sandymount

( extension to St. John's Church )
Dublin Bus route 18, which operates from Palmerstown was extended from Sandymount Village to St John's Church on Sunday 13th November 2005.

It was announced at the time that Dublin Bus were " pleased " to announce the extension however more subversive reasons were probably due to the congestion of buses at Sandymount Green & car parking on the opposite side of the road for residents & shoppers. The route now continues around Seafort Avenue & onto the Strand Road, passing by the Martello Tower & right into St. John's Road East before terminating at St. John's Church, a terminus shared by route 2. Due to the narrow road, the return trip deviates on the Strand Road, turning left onto New Grove Avenue & heading around by Sandymount Green onto the normal routing.

A further routing " diversion " took place on the same date, this time dictated to by other residential reasons, mostly in the form of anti social behavior. Due to constant stone throwing incidents from the Labre Park environs at Kylemore Bridge, evening 18 services from 6.30 pm are routing via Bluebell Avenue, John F. Kennedy Park, Killeen Road & Kylemore Park North.
