IRELANDS EU PRESIDENCY 2004

Ireland held the Presidency of the European Union for the first six months of 2004.

As part of the event, Dublin Bus had applied a special EU 2004 livery to some of its Volvo ALX 400 fleet, spread between Donnybrook & Conyngham Road.
The EU buses were also used to shuttle media around Limerick during an EU Summit hosted there.
Donnybrook based AV 147-151, formerly in Cityswift livery received the new EU colours & the buses entered service in Jan 2004 in the overall blue with EU stars.
AV 147-150 are operating from Donnybrook mostly on routes 2/3,11, 45 & 84 while similar AV 151 was transferred to Conyngham Road & is usually allocated to routes 68 & 69.
This is not the first time a special EU livery has been applied to the fleet, Leyland Olympian RH 2 in 1990 & RA176 in 1996 received similar liveries to mark the event, although not on the same scale.

Here's a photo feature on the various EU buses  during February 2004.
