Guide to DUBLIN BUS various fleet liveries/ fleet allocations
2008
CORE
CITYSWIFT
CITY TOUR/ COASTAL TOUR
CITY IMP
The AIRLINK livery is used exclusively for express Dublin Airport/ City Centre/ Bus & Train Station routes 747 & 748. Only 14 double decker AV class Volvo B7TL''s are painted in this livery. Buses feature air con, double glazing & centre doors.
Summerhill based AV 116- 128 are in Airlink livery.
A new Airlink livery is currently being developed ( 2006 ).
The CORE livery is the basic Dublin Bus standard livery. These colours can be found on a variety of buses, from single , artic & double deckers. This livery is the corporate colours of Dublin Bus.
Due to garage decisions & constraints, CORE & CITYSWIFT vehicles generally overlap with both types appearing on the same routes at the same time.
These fleet colours are set to vanish by the end of 2006 during cyclical resprays.
CITYSWIFT is a concept developed on certain routes from the City Centre to large suburbs right across the greater Dublin area. Investment in bus infraastucture, such as bus shelters & continous bus lanes is part of the CITYSWIFT brand, using the logo " directy, all over the city. CITYSWIFT routes are usually high frequency services throughout the week. The routes have the same price structure & frequent bus stops as conventional services.
Both single & double deckers have this livery applied.
These fleet colours are set to vanish by the end of 2006 during cyclical resprays.
CITY TOUR livery has been applied to a fleet of open top Leyland & Volvo Olympians which operate circular hop on- hop off  tours of Dublin City Centre.
3 Donnybrook based Volvo B7TL's with ALX400 bodywork operate in similar livery with " Coastal Tour " decals. Closed top buses for North & South Coast daily half day tours of Dublin.
The Broadstone based open topper fleet & Donnybrook based Coastal Tours AV have this livery applied.
DRIVER TRAINER
Using a fleet of specially converted fleet of Leyland Olympians, the DRIVER TRAINER fleet is based in Broadstone & trains all new recruits.
WEDDING BUS
WEDDING BUS is a concept for that " very special day". Wedding buses are allocated to all garages giving a good spread of coverage & buses only remain in Wedding colours for a few years. During wedding hire, the interiors are fitted with accessories. Buses are used on normal Dublin Bus routes when not required for hire.
Only Volvo B7TL's & Volvo Olympians are painted in this livery.
NITELINK
The NITELINK is a concept of express late night services from Dublin City Centre  along the major route corridors to the suburbs. All types of CITYSWIFT/ CORE double deckers are used for the service, there is a new nitelink livery just introducted on 1 AV.  ( RA 177 previously  - until July 2003 ) . NITELINK liveried minibuses act as mobile ticket sales kiosks around the City Centre in the NITELINK livery but do NOT operate the routes.
CITY IMP features this eye catching bright red & yellow livery on all Dublin Bus minibuses. These minibuses are used on low frequency/ poor demand routes.
While the CITY IMP function was originally devleoped as a  high frequency service, the have become a victim of their own sucess & most minibuses now being replaced by single deck midibuses ( also in the CITY IMP livery ) or even double deckers.

NEW CORE  LIVERY 2004 onwards
In August 2003, Dublin Bus applied an  experimental livery to Donnybrook based AV 76.
Following evaluation on AV 76 & then AV 84, this livery is to be adopted, replacing the current " core " & cityswift design.
