Bus Eireann purchased 34 second hand Optare Excels from Go North East originally as school bus replacements.
Already, OP 1 & 9 are operating a Naas- Newbridge town service, OP 4 has replaced Leyland Lynx LS 145 as the  Knock Airport - Charlestown service, some OP's operated a Park & Ride service in Galway during Christmas 2005 while at Waterford OP 21 & 28 had some limited service on Waterford City service in the run up to Christmas 2005.
Cork has now added OP 2 to its service fleet at Capwell, operating various local services to Blarney, Ballinacurra & Midleton.

OP 2, now allocated to Bus Eireann Capwell Garage, heads over from Georges Quay towards the South Mall & Parnell Place bus station on 12th June 2006
OP 2 was delivered to Capwell Garage in January 2006, probably direct from Galway where it had been operating a Christmas Park + Ride service from Galway Racecourse to the City Centre.
Seen here outside City Hall on the way back to Capwell Garage.
The  yellow school bus logos opposite the headlight clusters have been covered over .
OP 2 leaving Parnell Place bus station in Cork City, operating a commuter service to Midleton/ Ballinacura service. With no working scrolls, its back to sticky paper destinations all over the front windscreen.
OP 2 rear view close to the bus station, still with a side " Simply turn up & go " advertisement over the wheelarch, from its days with Go North East, UK.
