Leyland Olympian RH 136

Summerhill Garage

Former Summerhill Leyland Olympian RH 136 at the south end 16 terminus at Kingston 21st July 2005
For many years, Summerhill Leyland & later Volvo Olympians were the backbone of the garage, with the bulk of the various batches allocated to the tough cross city routes 16/ 16A & also the bus Airport/ Swords 41 group.
Batches to Summerhill included some of the earliest Dublin Bus arrivals in 1999...RH 19-30 which were delivered in two tone green, RH 126-142 which some sported the greem while others the Cityswift for route 13 & then the RA versions started to arrive with 242 in 1995.

RH 136, which remained in service long after the rest of the batch had been sold off to Ensignbus is seen at the southern end of the 16 route at Kingston near Rathfarnham.

RH 136 pictured outside its home garage at Summerhill just before Mountjoy Square, looking in superb condition. This is also a parking area for the 46A , 63 & 145 during the day.
RH 136 remained in Summerhill Garage throughtout its working life with Dublin Bus, delivered in two tone green, then core blue cream & finally the current Dublin Bus core yellow/ blue livery as above.

The upper deck of any bus is usually a target for vandalism & abuse but RH 136 was maintained to a very high standard.

Below, experience the sound of the Cummins engine on RH 136 on the way back from Kingston, over some ramps for added engine effect !!!! :
