New Bus Eireann Route 109A

Dublin City University ( D C U ) - Dublin Airport - Ratoath - Dunsaughlin - Navan

16th December 2007
Bus Eireann, Ireland national bus operator launched a new route from Dublin City University,  primarily connecting students & airport travelers with Ratoath, Dunsaughlin & Navan on Sunday 16th December 2007.
The route operates 7 days a week, from 5 am until 10 pm every hour & is part of Transport 21 with improved connections through Dublin Airport.
SC 241 ( 07 D 86214 ), a brand new Scania Irizar, recently delivered to Broadstone is seen above on Ballymun Road marking two introductions. Firstly, SC 241 is part of Bus Eireann new generation of Irizar with wheelchair accessibility, introduced into service today, in the new Bus Eireann corporate colours & secondly new route 109A, an offshoot of the increasingly busy commuter route 109 from Dublin City Centre to Navan.
Route 109A operates from Ballymun Road opposite the main entrance to Dublin City University, beside the shops on adjacent St Pappin Road. Apart from Bus Eireann services at UCD at Belfield, this is one of the few non City Centre termini for their services & offers a new choice for travelers going directly to Dunsaughlin, Ratoath & Navan. SC 241 wears the new Bus Eireann livery, this is the first coach in the fleet to show off the new colours in late 2007.
This new SC 200 fleet is the first coach for Bus Eireann to be fully wheelchair accessible, following unsuccessful trials of the Wright Commuter earlier in the year. The specially fitted wheelchair access door is just aft of the front wheel arch with revised seating inside.
Interior of SC 241, not featuring the traditional Bus Eireann corporate grey seating.
