Dublin Bus introduced new cross city route 128 from Clongriffin on the northside of Dublin, via the City Centre to Rathmines on Monday 19th November 2007.
Operating from a new housing development " Clongriffin " north of Donaghmede in Dublin 13, it operates via Clare Hall shopping centre, utilizing the quality bus corridor ( QBC ) on the Malahide Road, passing through Coolock, Artane, Fairview & the North Strand, connecting with Connolly railway station, Tara Street Dart Station, then heading for Trinity College, St Stephens Green, Adelaide Road, Portobello, Rathmines, finally terminating at Palmerston Park.
Route 128 is operated by Harristown Garage, using previously stored new Volvo B7TL Alexander Dennis ALX400 deckers, operating every 10 minutes weekdays, 15 minutes on Saturdays & 20 minutes on Sundays.
Route 128 is part of Transport 21.

Capital North/ Clongriffin free shuttle bus operates to Howth Junction railway station ( originally Kilbarrack ) every 30 minutes by private operator serving Clongriffin- Donaghmede Shopping Centre- Howth Junction .
Ex Clongriffen 6.45-9.45 Monday to Friday every 30 minutes
Ex Howth Junction 16:45-18:45 Monday to Friday every 30 minutes
No Saturday or Sunday service
Earlier departures ( 6 am ) from the original ( 7am ) departures were introduced on route 128 from 16th December 2007. Originally, the first departures picked up from Clare Hall ( Tesco ) only.

The route was originally operated by spare drivers from Harristown, but this was changed to marked in drivers in December 07, along with more efficient hand overs at Burgh Quay/ Eden Quay.
The Hole in the Wall Road is also served by routes 29A & route 129, while at nearby Clare Hall route 27 &127
