Route 172

gets low floor treatment
Little known Dublin Bus route 172 which started out as a humble minibus route is now enjoying low floor status with the appearance of ALX400's on the route recently. Within the space of one week, 3 of Phibsboro's AV class were on the route.

Former Conyngham Road AV 31, which was transferred to Phibsboro when routes 66 & 67 were moved in late 2004, is seen operating route 172 on 14th January 2006.
AV 31 ( 00 D 40031 ) is seen at the set down terminus in Dunard Estate where the 172 terminates.

The 172 is currently operated by Phibsboro's vast supply of Olympians, usually from the 320 & 350 batches. The route is mainly used by the elderly communities of Dunard & Oxmanstown Road area's.

The 172 displays :

Kildare Street via North Quays  ( inbound )
Dunard via South Quays ( outbound )

The side ad is for Titan Worldwide who took over the CIE advertising contract from Viacom in January 2006. Titan have been busy adding these ads to the nearside's of the Dublin Bus fleet as the transition takes place.
Finally, AV 31 at the City Centre terminus on Kildare Street, just above from Dail Eireann, home of the Irish Parliament. The " yellow " stop reflects the former branding of route 172 as the " Museumlink " bus with its color coded bus stops similar to the Airlink.
