Clontarf AV 107, a low floor easy access Volvo B7 with Alexander bodywork is seen close to the first stop at McAlisters Garage ( now Cars 4 You ) about to operate one of them morning 32X departures to UCD Belfield. Most Cityspeed/ Xpresso services were extended from St Stephens Green to UCD Belfield when a specially constructed Xpresso terminus was opened close to the current bus interchange.
From its early days, the Cityspeed/ Xpresso concept was seen as a premium brand, there was a slightly higher fare, which was a flat rate, given that it was a limited stop service, primarily to get rush hour commuters to Dublin City Centre faster. School child fares were considerably more to discourage them from using these services.
More modern type buses were also used on the routes, in the early days, Phibsboro's route 39X was advertised with having " piped " music on board, using its wedding livered Leyland Olympians RH 3 & 39.
Leyland Olympian RH 161,originally delivered to Clontarf in 1991 is seen operating a 32X on the 18th May 1994, with the specially designated Cityspeed blue/ white scrolls, possibly on a positioning duty on Lower Abbey Street when this part of the road was two way traffic onto O'Connell Street.
When route 32X was launched, it initially operated from Portmarnock ( Wendell Avenue ) before the extension to/from Malahide.
