Dublin Bus had the responsibility to operate the shuttle service to/ from The K Club to the various Park & Ride sites, using a fleet of AV & AX class Volvo B7 deckers.
Here is a feature on some unfamiliar sites around the countryside at Naas & Straffan
Above, a host of Dublin Bus deckers on layover at Punchestown Racecourse during shuttle duties.
Not a typical view of the Irish countryside, however, it was impressive & showed just what can be achieved by co-ordination & good planning, as spectators were whisked to & from the K Club.
Convoys of Dublin Bus deckers, mingled with various coaches in relatively car free roads with ease.
The recently upgraded & widened N 7 motorway allowed the shuttle buses to operate at speed & with relative ease between The K Club & the various Park n Ride sites.
The Dublin Bus shuttles would park temporarily along the N 7 awaiting call off by Dublin Bus inspectors at The K Club so that congestion at the tournament would not occur, yet within only a few minutes of the venue when demand required extra buses.
The Irish countryside provided an excellent backdrop for the thousands of spectators using the shuttles buses & the twenty five minute spins through the countryside, especially on the top deck porduced some magnificent views of Ireland.
The N 7 is not typically flooded with Dublin Buses, but constant shuttles ensured a stream of deckers on any part of the motorway during the tournament. Here two Wedding Buses, with Ryder Cup ads replacing the traditional wedding advertisements head for Punchestown Racecourse.
Meanwhile, at The K Club shuttle bus terminal, a line of AX's absorb the crowds on demand & depart for the Park n Ride sites on filling up. With four gates & a constant steam of buses behind, nobody is left hanging around & the terminal is close to the main road out of the K Club.

Finally, Donnybrook based AX 389, which had been operating normal Dublin Bus routes, received a partial wrap ad in connection for the Ryder Cup, with Failte Ireland on the offside, The Ryder Cup on the rear & RTE Radio 1 on the nearside, is seen dropping off passengers at Punchestown Racecourse just after the closing ceremony on Sunday 24th September in the sunset.
