WV 48 Volvo B6BLE Wright Crusader
European Amateur Youth Team Championship
The Island, Portmarnock, July 2004
During the first week of July 2004, Dublin Bus operated a private shuttle contract for the European Amateur Youth Team Championship at The Island golf course, Portmarnock.
It was the ideal opportunity for Dublin Bus to showcase their new corporate fleet colours just introduced to the Volvo WV class.
As Ringsend Garages WV class ( 47 upwards ) were the first to receive the new livery, WV 47 to 50, previously City Imp yellow & red were transferred to Donnybrook Garage to run the hire.
The service collected the various competitors from the Arrivals Hall of Dublin Airport & bright them directly to Portmarnock Golf Club.
The service operated all week using the 4 WV class, which along with the new core colours, were fitted with " Shuttle Bus " & " The Island 2004 " transfers on the nearside & rear.
WV 48 seen at the head of the bus queue at the Arrivals Hall at Dublin Airport. The new colours suit the bodywork very smartly, especially at the front, without the gaudy blue smiley fitted on the decker's.
The side transfers & golf logo can be seen on the first nearside window & the dot matrix has been specially programmed with Shuttle Bus.
There was a steady stream of visitors on the Saturday 3rd July 2004 when these photos were taken, with frequent departures. Spare buses were kept at the next bus stop close to the Aer Lingus Head Office & could be called over at relatively short notice when required.
